Rotary Club of Jaipur Gurukul had organized a guest lecture on 28 July, 2018 on Hepatitis Awareness by Dr. Rajat Bhargava, Gastroenterologist, Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences, Jaipur. July 28 is observed as World Hepatitis Day (in honour of Nobel Laureate Baruch Samuel Blumberg, discoverer of the hepatitis B virus, who celebrates his birthday on this date). Dr. Bhargava enlightened the members of the club about various types of hepatitis, modes of transmission and symptoms of each type. The talk was very informative as it raised awareness of the different forms of hepatitis and how they are transmitted. He also mentioned us that hepatitis E vaccine is not available worldwide.
He briefed about causes and symptoms of the disease and explained the members about the significance of hygiene and sanitation as a preventive measure of this disease. Members curiously asked about the impact of fatty liver condition on susceptibility of hepatitis and how jaundice is different from hepatitis? He also explained about the different types of treatment strategies available in present scenario. Members were also updated about latest technique of liver transplantation in case of chronic hepatitis cases.
